“Spring” Update 2019

The sun is shining even though it is only 13 degrees out, minus the wind.  We are not sure we should call this a spring update.  We are tired of the snow but glad God is in control.

We thought it would be nice to share a brief history of Iowa COM.  It started in 1989 and has served in many cities as well as in some other states.  Chuck and Shirley Ballard are the longest serving members in Iowa.  We think they started in 2004 but you can talk to them to hear their wonderful story of serving with COM.  Next would be Denny and Bev Davis.  They started serving in 2008.  Then in 2016 God blessed COM with 3 new families; Rick and Sarah Mott, John and Glenna Goldermann, and Dave and Doreen Short.  The latest members were Gene Sullivan and Sandi Rieber/Sullivan in 2018.

We have had a great time of fellowship and service to the Lord. Several others are interested in joining us but have not been able to join us at this time. God is really blessing us.

In  April of this year, the Davis’ are going to Baptist Hill Camp in Mount Vernon, MO to help with Missouri COM.  When we leave we will go to Kamp Kersey in Missouri and the Goldermanns will join us there.  If anyone else is interested in going please let us know where we can contact MO. and make sure they have room for our rigs.

In May COM will volunteer at Pine Lake Camp in Eldora, IA. We don’t know what’s on the work list yet. We will have a meeting and vote on our president – vice president- secretary – and treasurer.  We’re learning from other groups and would like to be more efficient. So if any of you are willing to step into these rolls please let us know. We’ll be praying for you.

In June two couples are going to Hannibal LaGrange College in Hannibal, MO.

There will be a National COM Conference in South Hutchison, KS on June 5th -7th where members from all 50 states are invited to attend. They have all kinds of classes that help with information for being a volunteer, to working on campers. Great fellowship also.  The Davis’ are going and if you are interested, let us know and then we will send you the information on how to get connected.

That is all for now.  Enjoy the rest of winter, it is not over yet.  God Bless You All.

Your Friends in Christ,

Denny Davis, President of Iowa Campers on Mission
